The rushing around is over. The busy, busy, busyness has slowed. The season of stillness is here. Time to sit back and notice. Time to practice being in the Now.
Just for a moment believe: this moment is the best time in your life. And now this moment. And this moment.
How would your life be different if you truly believed this? Could you find your way to be happy in this Now? Could you let go of the destination and savor the journey, where you are right now? Could you let go of what was and what might be, and merely be here, now?
Quite candidly, I’ve written this blog with myself in mind. This is a message I need to hear again and again since I spend far too much time in the future. It’s interesting: I’ve finally realized that the past cannot be changed, and therefore, I no longer dwell there. Yet the future, which may or may not happen as I envision it, still drives much of my life.
I continue to strive to be in the Now, to witness my life as it unfolds and to relish every detail. I’ve been fairly successful today. Tomorrow I get to try all over again.
Your call to action:
Set aside 15 minutes of your day for this exercise. Find a quiet place where you won’t be interrupted by technology or others. Now spend these 15 minutes just noticing. What colors do you see? What sounds are present? What points of your body are in contact with another object? What is your breathing like? If your mind starts to zoom off into the future, gently bring it back to the Now. What’s going on with your shoulders? Are there areas of tightness or tension? No need to “correct” or adjust anything. Just be. here. now.
What gifts are here for you?
